BRIEF HISTORY:

Until the Second World War, the majority of Žiežmariai inhabitants were Jews, who were active members of the local community of this small town. Unfortunately, the old Jewish buildings from the 19th century – beginning of the 20th century in Žiežmariai were almost only wooden ones, so only a few remained intact until this day. One of such successful relicts of Jewish daily life in Žiežmariai – an inn of a brewer, which dates back to the 20th century. You can see it standing next to the building of old town`s cinema theatre.

CURRENT SITUATION:

Today the historical inn in Žiežmariai is private property, so the original building can be seen only from outside. This building on Vilnius str. 7 has a characteristic architecture of village houses, that were adapted to businesses.
